Inspiration: James Jean

Ever since I saw his artwork on the cover of the comic book series Fables, I was instantly in love. His work is fluid, romantic, creepy, organic....it's got so much soul and imagination to it that I'm just constantly mesmerized by the work he does. I definitely would not mind having my walls covered in his prints and my room littered with his gorgeous journals, although it seems as if a lot of his collected art books are ridiculously priced. ($300 for the collection of Fables covers?! Give me a break!)

I'm hoping you all will be as inspired by him as I am! More of his lovely work can be seen at http://jamesjean.com, including some work he did for the Prada store. (Oh, and did I mention he integrated some of his artwork into Prada merchandise like scarves and dresses? If only I could wrap my hands around one!)

As a sidenote, I do plan on redoing my ClosetBug layout. I've had this for nearly two full years! It's time for a change, and fast.

Spotlight On: Seychelles

Sorry for the slight inactivity. My birthday came and went as I turned 20 and the celebrations lasted a little too long. (3 days, really?) I've also been immersing myself in my newly obtained The Sims 3 game as well as having fun being free. Although a job search is in order, I'm glad my summer at the moment is going fairly well.

I am absolutely in love with Seychelles right now. They're rather out of my price range most of the time, but there's no denying the love in the air as you grab the perfect Seychelles at a discount that can't be beat. (I would have to thank Urban Outfitters for that about 40% of the time!)

Some lovely examples of Seychelles that makes summer seem so much finer. I really adore their scalloped detailing and clunky heels. Whenever I search for shoes, the heels are ALWAYS the deciding factor between a yes or a no, I just can't win with thin stiletto-like heels!

Get Outta Town - $84

First Class Ticket - $84

Teardrop Slingback - $88

Inspiration Before Departure

It's almost time! My Manhattan trip is looming up on Thursday, the 4th of September. I'm thrilled beyond words, although I've already visited last year. As I'm packing, I'm considering all the possibilities and outfits I should and can wear for the streets of NYC. I'm not bringing my tripod due to size reasons, so I'm hoping I can sneak in a couple of outfit shots via makeshift forms of a tripod.

So while I'm packing and brainstorming outfits, I figured I'd get in some pre-trip fashion inspirations from others just like me; simple street walkers!

The slouchy pair of pants, blazers, cardigans.....although I'm not sure, the weather may not be the best for the latter two accessories. But I do look forward to lots of layering and having fun with dresses and pants.

Need I mention that I'm looking forward to NY Fashion Week? I'll have so much fun people-watching the walkers around Bryant Park.

Spotlight

Decided to do a quickie spotlight from what I've seen at wardrobe_remix. The results were considerably awesome.

From Left to Right : Anja Louise Verdugo, hounddesign, nemrešpobjećodnedjelje

#1 - There is something just charming about the top with the skirt. Everything is so girly, it just makes me want to puke with cute. I love it! Especially floral print, as I've been just mad for it lately. With t-straps? Yes please.

#2 - The first thing that hits you in the face would be the skirt. Buttons, pockets, sunny summery blocks of colors, what's not to love? Although for me, the limelight has been pretty much stolen by the white top. Love the detailing in it!

#3 - I saw her and immediately I was smitten by her laidback get up. It's unconventional, which I love, and believe it or not...she made those shoes herself! I'm thoroughly impressed.

Sungod Lovelies

So as I was at Sungod music festival on campus, I kept an eye out on interesting people. There were a lot, but there were two that caught my eye in particular.

I absolutely loved their look. The girl on the right, so casual and I love the way she tied her scarf. The girl on the left, I loved her hat and loose fitting dress, not to mention the amazing print on it.

Her romper, paired with a thin belt, was just enough classy and cool for the hot weather. Her styling was great as well.

Thrifting + Spotlight

I picked up some interesting finds today at the local thriftstore on campus. Vintage Laura Ashley floral dress, a nifty leopard print high waisted skirt, and this gorgeous silk and bright blue secretary dress. All for only $8.50!! I couldn't be happier with my finds, especially since I was in need of a floral dress. (It needs alterations, but that's not really a problem.) I love stopping by there of all places, it seems like the perfect place for all the older ladies on campus to ditch their 70's-80's gear.

However, a point came up when I started showing my friends the clothes I found. There were some slight stains on the silk dress that I told them that I needed to wash out. As soon as they saw it, they started freaking out and covered their noses and refused to touch anything. I was a bit appalled by their disbelief at thrifted clothes, to be honest it takes a lot of work just to get them to step INTO one.

It took me a small argument to tell them the worth of these amazing clothes I found, and although they still aren't believers, thrifted fashion came into mind as I was searching through some spotlight potentials at wardrobe_remix, and decided to show that you can look great in thrifted and vintage clothing.

Spotlight #1

Decided to do something fun. I'm a huge avid fan of fashion blogs as of late, and I decided to do a regular Spotlight thing for outfits that especially caught my eye. (Props to Painfully Hip for this idea)

So let's start the first spotlighting!! For this first post, everything was found at wardrobe_remix, an awesome flickr photo pool.

San Frans.
ragga_muffin looks awesome with that skirt and that top!! And the little bow just makes this even more adorable. I want to steal it so baddd, but I'm sure she wouldn't appreciate it haha.

i love my orang utan
OH DEAR GOD. MUST. HAVE. MONKEY. I absolutely love that top mixed with the high-waisted denim skirt, AND the overbearing batik.

beltshirt
You could say that this isn't exceptionally exciting, but something about the pattern and the peekaboo green just calls out to me. ♥
